Reform Your Functional Movement: Restore Structural Alignment to Support Whole Person Healing

February 16, 2024 | 1:00 - 2:30 pm EST

We invite you to join us  for a workshop on reforming your functional movement and restoring structural alignment to support healing.

Movement strengthens our bodies, minds, and souls for the modern world and in preparation for Heaven.  To move functionally is to move in a way that is practical, realistic, and considers the person as a whole instead of just parts. Join us in learning how to better steward the gift of our body and support healing through movement and posture.

“It is not the soul alone that should be healthy; if the mind is healthy in a healthy body, all will be healthy and much better prepared to give God greater service.

— Saint Ignatius of Loyola

Glorify God Through Your Movement

Functional movement is much more than forcing yourself through workouts that feel like punishment to our minds and are physically taxing to our bodies. It is about physical, mental, and spiritual health and glorifying God in the ways that we move throughout our day.

The impact of how we move and carry our bodies goes far beyond the time we spend in the gym. The way that we move, sit, stand, and breathe all have a significant influence on our health as a whole person– internally and externally. Whether a young athlete training and competing, a parent keeping up with active children, or a senior supporting longevity in aging, each season and stage of life invites us to different ways of movement and strength.

The alignment of the body’s physical structures including the head, neck, spine, breathing patterns, nervous system, and muscles are a significant component of physical health. By restoring proper alignment we can reduce pain and promote healing.

In this workshop, we’ll cover:

  • How to foster a healthy relationship with movement

  • How to move in a way that is functional and sustainable

  • How to maintain strength and movement through all stages of life

  • How to recover well from training

  • How structural alignment and posture impacts health

  • How to incorporate movement throughout the day

  • How to manage chronic pain and heal from injury

  • How to use movement as a means for stewarding the gift of our bodies
